When you think about fake grass, does it immediately bring to mind the visions of your grandparents’ house with a fake grass inside of the sun room, or some other unnatural application where grass can never grow?  The synthetic grass of the past was used in a way that could bring a grass like surface into an area where grass would never grow, ultimately creating an unnatural look that many people rejected.  Luckily, there was still a need for artificial turf in many situations, so the manufacture of the product became better and better until it is nearly a carbon copy of real grass today.  It also has the ability to survive outside and in natural environments without changing color or radically changing the way it looks.  This means they can be installed into areas that are not only the difficult to grow grass, but it can also be installed into areas where grass has become problematic.  In regions like Las Vegas we are finding that ongoing drought conditions are bringing about watering restrictions every few years.  While drought conditions used to not have much of an effect on us due to the fact that Lake Mead had far more water than our population could ever use, we have found that in modern times our population is now at night where it is so large that we have begun to tax the water supply in our reservoir.  As drought conditions bring that level of water down there, we face a situation where it can become dangerous for those who rely on the public water supply as far as having enough to drink.  This means ongoing watering restrictions that do not ease up from season to season a way that they used to.  As opposed to people simply replacing their grass every few years after a drought the way they used to in the past, we are now finding that people are making a wise investment in two alternatives like desert landscaping or synthetic turf.  These types of ground coverings do not need the artificial water supply that was probably a mistake to use in the past in an area that is actually a desert.  The types of ground covering that do not use water are far more appropriate for our type of region, and as such they are also viewed as being an improvement to a home.  This means that if you are going to add value to your home as far as the landscaping goes, it is probably a far better idea for you not to use a grass lawn because it is look at as a negative thing in the desert.  Nobody wants to spend their Sunday mornings mowing your lawn or paying high water bills in order to keep it alive.  Homeowners today want convenience as well as to be part of a better solution for our community, and that solution involves investing in fake grass.  Have you made the switch?
