Synthetic Turf In Anaheim

Southern California residents are well aware of the drought that has been killing our landscaping.  Even though we can afford to water our yards, we are not allowed to because the water shortage cannot assure that every citizen has enough clean drinking water.  These situations automatically bring on watering restrictions for landscaping, so we are forced to watch as our grass turns brown and dies in the summer.  This is understandable during times of crisis however, because a single square foot of grass in Anaheim will need more than 55 gallons of water every year just to survive.  That water is needed for our citizens and animals to survive, and just because we want a green lawn does not make that situation change.  We all must do our part and simply adhere to the restrictions so we assure that everyone will always have water to drink.

The real question at hand for Anaheim residents this winter is if you are going to spend money on the repair or replacement of the grass that was damaged last summer, only to potentially have the watering restrictions happen again? If the drought does not end, the restrictions will start again and any grass that you put in will die again.  This is a difficult choice because everyone wants their home to look good, and nothing looks worse than a dead lawn.  So you have to gamble and put in grass only to find out that it will be dead again in a few months, or leave it dead and have your home look terrible.  Luckily, there is another choice.

Smart Anaheim residents are calling Coastal Greenscapes in order to completely remove their existing grass and replacing it with synthetic turf.  This is a plastic product that looks like real grass attached to a carpet.  They remove all of your living grass and prepare the area with a weed barrier and a filler material that is compacted for sponginess and drainage.  The synthetic turf is rolled out and staked down in the area, and when it is finished it looks and feels exactly like real living grass.  For every square foot of synthetic grass that is installed, 55 gallons of water is saved every year and countless dollars worth of water and landscaping bills.  The result is a yard that is a pleasure to be in, no matter if there is a drought or not.  So are you going to hang out in a dead lawn this year even after you spent money fixing it, or are you going to make a smart choice and install synthetic turf?
