Many residents in Southern California are attempting to find out more ways to be water smart.  This probably comes as a result of the drought conditions that have come and gone just about every year over the course of the last decade.  It doesn’t matter if you believe in climate change or not, because the reasons behind the drought in not negate the fact that drought is happening.  We’re simply not getting enough rain or snowfall in the mountains to resupply our reserves of water every year.  In the past, we might get a drought every 10 years or so, even though it was an inconvenience we would be able to restore or replant our lawns or landscape plants as necessary.  What we’re finding now is that every time that we spend money to restore our lawns and replant all of the plants which are died during the drought condition, only to have the same thing happen within a year or two.  Because there’s no end in sight as far as the ongoing drought conditions changing, many people are beginning to explore different ways to create a situation where they will not be spending money every year in order to restore the one that is just going to die within a few months.  People are beginning to look into the water smart alternatives to grass, and finding that fake grass just might be the solution that they have always been looking for.

Artificial turf is a synthetic product made of plastic which has been colored to match the grass of specific areas.  It can be purchased in a wide variety of plants and colors in order to be exactly what the homeowner is looking for, but the biggest positive with regards to the ownership of artificial turf is the fact that you do not need the water it in order for it to look as good as the day it is installed.  Artificial turf is built to stand up to nearly every weather situation and continue to look exactly the same.  The only maintenance that is generally necessary is to hold off every now and again to get rid of any dust or debris that might have settled on the grass blades.  You will no longer need to continually water your lawn every day in order to keep it looking good, and all of the money that is saved on both water bills as well as care and maintenance from landscapers can be put right back into your bank account to be enjoyed any way that you want to, when you couple that with the fact that you get incentives from the state and local governments because you are saving water, we find that smart home owners and business owners are making the switch to fake grass simply as a wise investment, instead of concentrating on all of the other conveniences and features that fake grass possesses.  If you are living in Southern California, have you made the switch yet?
