How Artificial Grass Is Created
Most people take artificial grass for granted. They understand that it is a great ground
covering that will function perfectly for children and pets to play on as well
as creating a neat landscape that does not need a significant amount of care
and maintenance in order to stay looking that way. Even know it is something that most of us in
Las Vegas come into contact with almost daily, we probably don’t think a lot
about it. You have to consider why there
is artificial turf in the first place, and also think about how it has become
such a perfect substitute for real grass.
In the manufacturing process, it is assumed that artificial turf
is in the third level of development.
The need for it began in the fifties, and by the sixties we saw the
manufacturing of products for both public and private use beginning to hit the
shelves. This first wave of plastic
grass was a very crude product that did not have a lot of the visual elements
that made it look like grass, and instead it was simply green colored plastic
carpet that was rolled over an exterior surface. People began to experiment with ways to
create a thicker backing material that would not pool water underneath, as this
issue became more apparent with wider spread use. Water permeable backing material for the
first advancement that created a more realistic product, followed by
underfilling materials that can create a more soft and spongy feel when you
walked on it. Over time the installation
process became more perfected in order to keep it from bagging or splitting,
and the staking procedure made it so that the artificial turf can be stretched
in a way that made it very realistic.
The final phase of manufacturing development was the procedures that
developed the blades of grass themselves, moving from more old school methods
to an extruding process. This allows for
colored plastic, nylon and other materials to be utilized in order to not only
form grass blades that looked like actual grass, but ones that felt like grass
against the skin and also did not wear down in the different types of weather
it was exposed to. This gave artificial
grass the advantage over real grass in that it not only looked exactly like the
real thing but it did not need water or care and maintenance of any kind. Once this had become more widely available as
a product to the public, we see more people using it as an alternative to real
grass.
Areas like Las Vegas which have a difficult time growing real
plants due to the fact there is almost no water combined with an extreme amount
of heat are perfect for artificial turf.
The product is able to withstand the heat without melting or changing color,
and the installation process gives it the ability to feel exactly like regular
grass. When you are ready to make the
